This session will first invite participants to reflect on the ways in which SUNY Empire has, and does, contribute to strengthening of communities. In this light, and in consideration of the College’s stated commitments to responsive promotion of social justice and a sustainable world, and the encouragement of engagement in communities (SUNY ESC, 2021) an idea will be presented. The emergent idea relates to potential SUNY Empire partnership with community hospitals to build sustained opportunities for educational and contributory structural change actions that address upstream health determinants. The particular concern of environmental pollution as a community health determinant will be discussed.
