Getting Your Creative Writing Into the World

So you wrote a draft of creative prose in a fever dream. Your pen flew across the page like the flush of new love. Now what? This workshop will review some of the skills and techniques for rewriting and elevating that draft to get it ready for publication. We will also discuss sending it out into the world: guidelines, submission, rejection, acceptance. This will focus on shorter creative works and not the book submission process. As a developmental editor, prose writer, contest judge, editor, managing editor, and editor-in-chief of literary journals, I can share some of the reasons work is being rejected, what happens behind the scenes, and how to increase your chances of being accepted.
